As a concerned citizen, I have sadly watched the developments of the relief efforts in New Orleans.
And all along, I have watched my brothers and sisters suffer. They have gone through hell.
Many of them made it through Hurricane Katrina…only to die in the streets as they waited for the government to get help to them.
Where in the hell is everyone? There is no excuse for this.
No excuse.
Period.
The United States is the most powerful country in the world. We constantly help other countries during disasters like this.
But now when a major natural disaster hits OUR country, the government is NOT DOING ENOUGH.
Disgraceful.
The response has been pathetic.
And who pays the price? Government officials?
No.
Innocent citizens who are waiting for help...and some of them have died already.
Where is the help?
The help for the elderly man who needs medicine; the help for the elderly woman who is too frail to walk;
the help for the woman who has already lost a loved one and is immobilized by grief.
Where is the water? Where is the food? Where is the medicine? Where are the blankets?
And why is the evacuation taking so long?
Why? Why? Why?
What is happening is outrageous and I am deeply sickened at what has occurred.
To every soul that is now in Heaven because you did not receive help in time…God bless you. You are an angel. And you deserved better.
To every person who lost a loved one because help NEVER came for him or her…God bless you. You are an angel here on earth. You and your loved one deserved better.
No excuse will ever be accepted for the needless loss of lives AFTER Hurricane Katrina.
No excuse whatsoever.
