American Red Cross Continues to Expand Relief Efforts for the Hurricane Katrina Survivors

by Kevin Caruso

September 5, 2005

The American Red Cross is continuing to expand their Hurricane Katrina relief efforts on a massive scale as they provide emergency shelter, water, food, counseling, and additional assistance.

Their massive response to Hurricane Katrina is the largest response to date (for a single natural disaster) in 125-year history of the organization.

The Red Cross needs YOUR help now.

Please call 1-800-HELP-NOW (1-800-435-7669) to donate. No donation is too small.

Or donate by visiting their website at RedCross.org:

Below is a summary of SOME of the amazing work that the Red Cross has accomplished to assist the survivors through September 5, 2005:

Over 4,000 Red Cross staff and volunteer workers are diligently working to serve the Hurricane Katrina survivors.

Almost 250 Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles have been sent to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, and more vehicles are en route.

The Red Cross is sheltering 107,400 Hurricane Katrina survivors with shelters in 9 states: Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri and Georgia.

Over 130,000 meals have been served in the last 24 hours.

Again, the Red Cross needs your help NOW.

Please call 1-800-HELP-NOW (1-800-435-7669) to donate. No donation is too small.
